God: endured dislike and still does…
John 15:18-21 (KJV) “If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you. If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you. Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also. But all these things will they do unto you for my name’s sake, because they know not him that sent me.”
And the cycle continues, even as we face up to the ridicule, dislike and unpopularity on our jobs and wherever we go; maybe even at the church we attend because they think they are doing God a favor. Ha ha.
If you are the creme of the crop, then that is suspect, but if in all honesty you have and are undergoing nettling and peculiar treatment because folks just don’t like you for this reason or another: you in good company, they did the same to Jesus.
It’s a little strong to advise someone not to take it seriously when that person is feeling the pain of rejection and hurt of the sharp words that pierce deeply, but one thing I guarantee you is that if you cast your care upon Jesus, it becomes a bit bearable.
Let Him deal with the situation and within yourself, just love as if there isn’t any tomorrow.
