Teach me to pray….

God: taught us how to do this….

Luke 11:1-4 (KJV) “And it came to pass, that, as he was praying in a certain place, when he ceased, one of his disciples said unto him, Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples. And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth. Give us day by day our daily bread. And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil”.

Built within us is an instinctive desire to worship or honor something or someone outside of ourselves. In this process we welcome the spirit of worship and adoration, and for those of us who have heeded the call from our heavenly Father, His word teaches us the importance of communication and especially to pray to Him.

Praying takes on a variety of mannerisms, but ultimately when we pray, the important thing is getting in contact with your Father. There must be interaction, you can’t just be rattling on at a speed without an acknowledgement: He is your Father and that is one of the most powerful revelation that will aide in being effective in this walk.

God talks to us and we must listen; when we talk to Him, know that He is listening as well and that my friend is a step in praying effectively.
