God: does the most unusual things….
Luke 15:1-2 (KJV) “Then drew near unto him all the publicans and sinners for to hear him. And the Pharisees and scribes murmured, saying, This man receiveth sinners, and eateth with them”.
As a child growing up I am sure you must have been familiar or remember your parents or those in charge of you telling you to be mindful of your company; the nagging and pressing if it appeared that you might be getting mixed up with the wrong crowd.
At times it would be an ongoing narrative about that person’s heritage and what their parents and older siblings did that might be a family trait and one that could have rubbed off on your friend, and it went on and on until the friend cease being close then it wasn’t all good anymore: chalk one up to great parenting.
Jesus got that and a whole lot more from the various sectors of the Jewish population, yet He didn’t let it faze Him any at all; as a matter of fact, He even went to dinner and healed them when they were sick and visited them in addition. He didn’t care what folks thought about Him, as long as His work that He came to accomplish was being done.
Now that you are all grown up do you let folks opinion and comments hinder you from reaching out to those in need; the one who is imprisoned; the one who is hospitalized with a deadly sickness? Do you?
My friend be known for being the one they will ask, “what is wrong with him” because you chose to be compassionate to the needy; Jesus did.
