God: speaks this in His word…
1 Corinthians 14:1, 3 (KJV) “Follow after charity, and desire spiritual gifts, but rather that ye may prophesy. But he that prophesieth speaketh unto men to edification, and exhortation, and comfort.”
There are many schools of thoughts in operating in the spiritual giftings from our Father in heaven and we are sometimes cautioned against asking for gifts we see others operating in; but the word of God tells us that no good thing will He (Gd) withhold from His children, which if you are born again and of the body of Christ, would be indicative of you.
It is great to be a lover, and this is one thing we all need to ascribe to, love charity, walk in grace and peace, but there are more gifts which God has ready to pour out upon His people and is it that because of faulty teaching many of us are ready and willing to be at the level we are and consistently say we are waiting on God, when He is waiting on us?
Is it that men in authorized to teach the word of God, has used this opportunity to control the word of God and include and strongly suggests a meaning which is contrary to the intent of the word?
In today’s verses it tells us to “desire spiritual gifts, but rather that ye prophesy”, this in itself is a strong indication that agrees with what the word tells us by “ask and it shall be given”; is it then we ask amiss or ask for the wrong reasons?
God alone knows the theory behind these questions, but ultimately we know that God is the only one who can clarify and make these queries be put to rest.
The giftings are all from God, may He bless us as our hearts are open to receive them…
