God: is for us….
Isaiah 8:9-10(KJV) “Associate yourselves, o ye people, and ye shall be broken in pieces; and give ear, all ye of far countries: gird yourselves, and ye shall be broken in pieces. Take counsel together, and it shall come to nought; speak the word, and it shall not stand: for God is with us”.
Many of us at one time or another in our lives have been at the opposite spectrum of adversity; we have been in situations where because of our stance, our opinions and expressions, folks have developed extreme dislike to the point of hatred for us and for that have fought us and done things to undermine and discredit who we are and what we profess.
In times like these, being popular is not a case of standing for what is right necessarily, but what is correct according to popular expressions. If you have ever been in this predicament, then you understand how it feels to decide and make up your mind to stand for what you profess at all cost, not giving in to pressure.
At times like those, a person needs something to stand upon to bolster their encouragement; although the backbone might feel like it wants to melt and you wimp out on your conviction, there ought to be a “word” inside of you that will push itself out in that moment to make you courageous.
The word of God brings us such a piece in our reading today: even though the forces amass themselves together to gnash at you, there is one who will be fighting on your behalf to break their confederacy to pieces. When they join together to form a coalition against the minority voice, their counsel will fall into disarray because of one reason and one reason only: God is for you.
Beloved in all that you are going through, though your witness is discredited, even if you are made to look foolish: know that you can stand strong in the face of it, because that “word” you hid within you will come out strong and the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob still is a man of war; hold unto that as you fight the fight.
New Trivia: We are cautioned to “remember” someone in the days of our youth; who is this?
