God: is the source for enduring the race….
Mark 1:34-35 (KJV) “And he healed many that were sick of divers diseases, and cast out many devils; and suffered not the devils to speak, because they knew him. And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed”.
Many of us who are believers of Christ are in ministry one way or the other; it might not be the glaring in the public’s face type of ministry, but we do what we are able to do as individuals called to be disciples of Jesus. As followers, we want to do the best we can to emulate that which was practiced and taught by Jesus as He walked this earth because that is one of the major reasons He took on mortal flesh: to demonstrate that what we are going through is doable “He was tempted at all points as we are, yet sinned not”.
When we look at the ministry of Jesus, the work He did was not ordinary and even many of us in ministry would be cross eyed if we took on half of the different aspect of His ministry: deliverance, prayer warrior, teacher just to name a few. But it was just like any ordinary day when He started doing what He specialized in for humanity.
The word gives us an insight into the depth of what His day looked like, but to counter balance it also shows how it was maintained: he spent time in prayers, continuous communication with His Father; new divine directions, instructions and encouragement.
Many of burn out quickly when we don’t have these attributes in the natural or spiritual realm and at times it is because we lose sight of prize and become caught up in the journey. Jesus the same yesterday, today and forever and let the mind be in me which was also in Christ Jesus are sound encouragements which we need to implant into our hearts and mind to remind us that this example is constant and as He did it, so can we.
