God:requires that you trust Him…
Luke 10:18 (KJV) “He that heareth you heareth me; and he that despiseth you despiseth me; and he that despiseth me despiseth him that sent me”.
Witnessing can be a lifestyle at an ordinary level, but at a greater or more intensive level it can pertain to actively winning souls for the kingdom of God.
A person has to be prepared when they witness, especially when they are novices, because at times not many folks you come into contact with will be willing to hear about this man named Christ Jesus; people today, as they were when He walked the earth offer great resistance to His presence and the message which He bringeth.
That ought not to discourage anyone who is a believer from going forth and spreading the Word; it is a mandate from Jesus and it is what He has instructed to do. With this instruction, He also cautions the soul winner in appropriate behavior many don’t observe today; the main focus being on letting the word go forth.
But Jesus foresaw a type or group of folks who weren’t interested and His advise was “but into whatsoever city ye enter, and they receive you not, go your ways out into the streets of the same” (Luke 10:10). Jesus knew that this message of salvation would not be an easy message for the world to accept, hence the cautionary, “whosoever will”. It is a choice then and it is still such for those who will accept.
The simplicity of the message is that you believe in Jesus and Him who sent Him and the benefits of what He has becometh yours as a son of God. The message of salvation comes with freedom from sin, bondage and the yokes of sin and death. The difficulty with the message is when you don’t believe you are damned; sin for a season comes to mind which can be a dangerous poison.
I don’t know about you, but I have an urging to hear, love and cling to that message and all the benefits which it brings; my life, my choice. What about you?
