Adequately filled….

green in isolation

God:

Romans 15:4 “For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope”.

For the majority of us living consistently as a believer causes us to have something to hold unto when the going gets tough; that is Jesus, however, when at times the seas seem to overwhelm us and the noise around us get so loud that His still small voice has to fight to get through to us, we have to tap into that hope and faith.

Faith in the word is said to come by hearing and hearing by the word of God, so as a believer it is integral to be filling our temporal bodies with the spiritual word of God. It is so easy to get polluted and I won’t use the moniker “in today’s society” because others in different dispensation had other issues they dealt with and which created any number of problems.

The word for today goes into detail on why the word was written; the purpose God spent so much time putting together this manuscript which depicts His interaction with ordinary and common folks from the beginning of time: it was so that we have a precursor or a guideline to teach us and from which we can pattern our daily living.

It isn’t a now for now or quick fix; the word has to be savored, it has to be consumed diligently and daily and with fervor. It might not be palatable today, but its effect will do the job if we stick with it.

I’m not sure I understand how it is we as believers expect to win this fight if we deviate from filling our internal storage tank with things not of God, it will dilute that which is needed to carry us the distance. It is hard enough to get rid of the pollutants which came about prior to our time outside of Christ much less feeding your body with the word and a constant barrage of unspiritual issues: the body will corrode.

If we be spiritual entities what rights do we have ingesting into our spirit the things not of God? That appears to be a conundrum. The Holy Spirit within us is a living being and needs to be fed: I can imagine 5:00 pm rush hour after a hard and trying day on the job and the Spirit is anxious to be fed and you tune into some soft rock (or hard, or whatever genre is your fix) to lighten your mood. Which spirit is edified?

Elisha had it right when he needed to get into that spiritual realm; when he needed to be that closer to God, he instructed them to “call for the minstrel” “But now bring me a minstrel. And it came to pass, when the minstrel played, that the hand of the LORD came upon him” (2 Kings 3:15 KJV).

The thing I am getting at is we all have issues we are dealing with and the Word of God contains the balm for ailments; we have to gain assurance and hope in the word of God or we are loss. But we can’t do it by not knowing the word or which word to apply.

My prayer tonight for us all: Father God you took the time to prepare us a feast, a bounty, a vast treasure cove of knowledge, yet your people hunger and suffer from lack of application. Ignorance of your true intention for us is causing us to be in much pain, distress and trauma. Father in the name of Jesus and through His blood I call forth those things that aren’t as if they are and declare that a true application of your word will fall upon all who are reading these words and more fullness for myself as well from this point onward in Jesus holy name.

New trivia: a king fasted for one of God’s beloved sons; who are these two individuals?
