God:brings the favor for His glory…
John 1:28 (KJV) “When the angel entered her home, he greeted her and said, “You are favored by the Lord! The Lord is with you.”
I believe anyone would be extremely happy if they got a visitation from a heavenly being who uttered the words spoken to Mary the mother of Jesus; you might go through a period of deep shock and disbelief at first, but a period to savor the experience would follow that could last a lifetime.
But to examine the reason behind such a visit is the next step behind examining why it was done; I truly believe that there is a reason behind everything which God does and as revealed a little later on, there was a job for her to accomplish and it was one that took no disobedience, but total dedication and after a while sorrow as the specifics began to unfold.
Mary was favored and it was expressed by the direct communication of an angel standing before the face of God; that in itself is awesome. Yet favor comes with its set of issues which can be distressing to the one being favored; you might be fortunate to be in good company who don’t envy that which you carry, but that is rare. The mindset of folks is, “if it can happen to you, then it can surely happen for me” and they will do and spend a lot of time to accomplish that which you have and there is nothing wrong with that. The problem arises when they attempt to undermine the grace and favor upon your life.
Favor isn’t fair is how I heard one preacher describe this process; but ought we not to be happy when one person gets promoted or is favored? I believe scripture puts it this way “esteem each other above our selves”; when someone is exalted as a result of divine favor I believe we can start praying that person up and thanking God for what He is accomplishing, because ultimately it is God who will get the glory or ought to when it all comes down to the final outcome.
It takes a great mind and a greater spirit to see something good happening for someone; seeing God bless a person; seeing the move of God in someone’s life and getting pass envy or jealousy to the point where you esteem them and love them deeper hoping for the continuous grace of God on their lives.
Examine yourself today and see where your heart is with being glad for someone in their time of being exalted by God for His purpose; what will your reaction be?
