My personal angel…

God: sends His angels to guard us...

Exodus 23:20-23 (KJV) “Behold, I send an Angel before thee, to keep thee in the way, and to bring thee into the place which I have prepared. Beware of him, and obey his voice, provoke him not; for he will not pardon your transgressions: for my name is in him. But if thou shalt indeed obey his voice, and do all that I speak; then I will be an enemy unto thine enemies, and an adversary unto thine adversaries. For mine Angel shall go before thee, and bring thee in unto the Amorites, and the Hittites, and the Perizzites, and the Canaanites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites: and I will cut them off.”

This scripture reading is so mind boggling at all levels, I just keep returning to it repeatedly to get more out of it. I am aware of the presence of angels (good and bad); and I also know that God gives His angels charge over us (see Psalms 91), but the manifest example of that is in this reading we are doing today.

I’m just curious when I put it out there, but have you ever seen your angel, and what does He/She looks like? Not taking away from the glory and awesomeness of Christ, but the ways and operation of God are so diverse that one has to ponder deeply.

In the reading for today, we see the Israelites going through a powerful and life changing journey, some would not make it and some only by a minimal margin; one of the reasons for missing the mark is disobedience to the angel of the Lord.

God warned them that His angel was going to be leading and guiding them and to be careful that they don’t provoke Him because He bore the name of God; He was God’s representative.  I’m going to thread very lightly here with this reading because it has deep and hidden connotations which would veer off into a totally different direction if we begin to touch it.

But God dispatches His angels to guard us and they are assigned to us for protection; do you ever wonder how you just barely missed that terrible accident which happen on your normal route to work when you suddenly decided to go a different way; how is it you had to leave the house and return when you realized that your phone which you never ever forget, turn up on your bedside table; your kids just started acting up when you want to accomplish things in a semblance of order, then you realize that one of your stops they just had a shooting and many were killed? How do you figure that before you reach the point of attending any of those incidences, you were delayed mysteriously or unusually?

Could it be; is it really; wow I never thought of it that way could be any of the responses going through your mind: your angel at work.

What does God require from us? “Beware of Him”…Respect… Obey God… defer to God. He got our backs and when we obey Him, all of them who fight against us, He will fight for us…Do you remember the story of Abraham in choosing a wife for Isaac (Genesis 24:7 KJV)?

You are probably saying, so Old Testament…Is it? You most likely don’t see your angels, yet they are there doing their jobs.

New Trivia: This prophet was quoted by Jesus as He established His ministry in the tabernacle; who is it?

“I’m going to thread very lightly here” I automatically and mentally spell-checked this as I read. And then came back to it – and so hope it was inentional: “thread” thrumming “tread” lightly thrumming threads. Sort of like angels. Was it – or wasn’t it? Why that – not this? Did I just – or was I imagining? Thank you lord – or Thank You Lord!!!!

A very good post, VW! Not sure just how angels work in this day and age. The bible gives us some examples of what they have done, and we could conclude they are “in the world” today by some standards.

Guess we’ll know it all by and by…

Have a wonderful day in His blessings!
