He has a name…

glory of God

God: purposeful in everything He is doing; patient as we understand Him…

Revelations 4:8-11(KJV) “And the four beasts had each of them six wings about him; and they were full of eyes within: and they rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come.  And when those beasts give glory and honour and thanks to him that sat on the throne, who liveth forever and ever, the four and twenty elders fall down before him that sat on the throne, and worship him that liveth forever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying, thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created”.

God created man with a built in mechanism to acknowledge and praise Him or be grateful for their existence; some deviate from this by acknowledging other gods or some mystical force of the universe. However, what is evident to me is that God is not a storybook or a being which exist at some distant location.

God is real and for all intents and purposes, His desire in our relationship with Him is to understand who He is in to us and how we ought to honor Him. How can a God who has everything want anything from us? In our state of gratefulness, we ought to look at our lives and what we came from, how we live on a day-to-day basis and even the provisions which, we in our most learned and educated state could not have maneuvered to the effectiveness some of us excel.

Who then is responsible for our wellbeing, the things we accomplish, the operation of our bodies and our interaction skills? There must be a rationale, intelligent, wise, understanding and loving God who we can call our Father, in the midst of this all.

I am not talking about, “the big man up there, an unknown force” or any other buddy names we tend to incorporate into our jargon filled society. There is a God and His name is Elohim, and He gave us permission to come to Him through His son whose name is Jesus.

This simple fact gives me cause to worship at His feet; offer quiet praises and worship because of the awesomeness of this truth. He is not an unresolved query in my mind, but a person who was gracious enough to share His attributes with us, yet gave us bodies to accommodate our intricate operations.

That is the God who is directing my thoughts, my actions, my well being, my gains, my losses, my accomplishments.

He needs my praises as a memorial to my gratitude for not wasting me or allowing death to triumph over me. That is the God who I need to verify options, weigh heavy matters, with whom I consult in life choices.

The best thing is it is not burdensome for me to worship Him, it is a gift which I cherish; He gave me breathe; let me use it to glorify Him. All praises be unto you my Lord.

Trivia: He knew the exact date he was dying and the conditions; who is this?

  5. One day, I thought about myself. I had a job at that time where I traveled all about in Philadelphia from school to school and I made a lot of home visits too. My job was counselor then; before I was teaching full time.

I took public transportation. I had a pass – it gave me plenty of time to reflect and pray and think about my young consumers (the youth that I worked with). Their troubles required a positive loving patient counselor to make the progress that would lead them into being able make golas and progress on their own.

I’d face my self-worth during those two years as I worked by my intelligence to be what the youth needed and short on the depth of character for myself.

I learned a lot about God, myself, and others in those days. I could not have been able to do what came from the project — God was there; God was carrying me sometimes. I learned at my job to see Him in my work.

What a blessing it is to be doing His work.

Thanks for blogging your stories and about your walk with God.

    ~ Eric

You were in a transition stage or were you purposefully trying different methods of managing your career? I agree that in the least place you expect Him God is right there doing what He specializes in. VW

I like this question from your post: “How can a God who has everything want anything from us?” I have struggled with total surrender to the Lord. Sometimes I feel I have surrendered only to experience an uncanny yearning for worldly things above the spiritual, and the struggle starts all over again. Sometimes I get frustrated with myself. I do not know if I will completely win this battle. Is there someone who can relate to this?

I heard a sermon once where the preacher said, God hates pride and for that He will not praise or worship himself. For this reason He created us with that DNA built into us to worship a higher power who is Himself. It is humbling to know that one of our purpose was being created to know God, His personality, His greatness, yet worship Him for who He is.

I look at myself and say, I want to do that; yet I can’t worship Him appropriately in myself and that takes something from Him. I can do that, which is seek for that Thing which will make me be a good praiser or worshiper of the Almighty. By the time I get around to figuring or delving in all His business, I get too tired to want to have my own way.

Saying that to say, surrendering is a daily thing. Keep an eye on your body and mind with His guidance. Seek for Him and He will seek for you. Hope this helps a little. VW
