God: reconciliation power; creator; intelligent beyond my understanding
St Luke 4:1,2(KJV) “And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness. Being forty days tempted of the devil. And in those days he did eat nothing: and when they were ended, he afterward hungered”.
At one point in my life I wasn’t too fond of hearing sermons or preachers expound on the word of God or even hearing about God Himself. I was at that place, even though I literally grew up in the church, I walked away after a bit and decided I didn’t want anything else to do with it.
But I didn’t reckon on the power of a praying mother and others, and I underestimated the power of prayers. Actually, I didn’t have a full and mature understanding of the depths and reaches of prayers.
David was in a state of perplexity when he queried the Lord and stated explicitly, “whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence?” (Psalm 139:7 KJV). I can tell you, I truly have an understanding of what that statement means now; God’s eye is everywhere, pretty scary, but it is the untarnished and unadulterated truth.
How do I compare myself to that person I used to be? Well after being pursued and tormented within an inch of my life I truly had to hold up the white flag and say, “enough is enough, YOU win”. This might not be everyone’s testimony, but it is scary enough when I rehash it in my mind, much less to relate it.
In the reading we see Jesus coming from being baptized by John the Baptist and immediately He was taken for His preparation consecration in the wilderness no less where He was separated for the next forty days. The scripture is to the point and without shadows as it indicates that He was able to do this because He was under the anointing of the Holy Spirit.
The Spirit was within Him and was the focal compass which led Him; so there can’t be any misunderstanding as to why He did what He did; was it the right time; or even the length of time. It was just as it was designed to be.
How many times you get a thought for action within your mind, yet your body refuse to act on it or vice versa? It might be difficult for some of us to do things we are instructed and guided to do by God because we doubt, but with Him, there is no shadow of turning and He always gives follow through and confirmation of His directions.
We tend to put up a very strong resistance or fight in our relationship with God and if you measure your strain of relationships you realize this area is where you get the most fight in your life. But beloved, if you are getting such a big fight in obeying, following, doing, coming or even staying as it relates to God don’t you think it is worth investigating why?
I believe your adversary knows how much you are worth more than you do. But I have one word I will leave with you I heard from a very gifted preacher, “anything not tested cannot be trusted”. God’s Word invites you to test the Spirits if you know how to do that, go for it with all you got and see what you come up with.
Trivia: He had no shame in letting loose with tears as he was overcome with emotions. Who is this?
