I know the great physician…

healing application

God: healer of all affliction

James 5:13-15 (KJV) “Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms. Is any sick among you? Let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him”.

If we are a careful student of the Word of God, we will realize it is a blueprint indeed and when you are most definitely in need. No matter the circumstances which are facing you, be it sorrow of gladness, sickness or death; in the good times or the bad times, there is a balm to affix to the wound.

We also cannot live a life that is separate from what is being instructed within the pages of this book or else our profession of the faith will be in vain and non-effective.   For instance we come upon a certain situation in our lives and as led by the Word of God, through His Spirit; whatever means the direction comes and we choose to ignore or go another route in attempting to solve the dilemma: big mistake. We are in breach on so many levels that it would take more than this blog to discuss.

So the application for the Word coming forth today by James gives us a rich demonstration of certain circumstances which could confront a believer and then he goes right into the solution to the problem.

Many of us as believers are afflicted on a major level, and choose to live with the problem year after year: we are instructed to pray. In times of happiness, learn the Psalms of joy, and then utilize them in the periods when your joy comes to the full.

Sickness is a chronic event in the world, more so to the believer as well: we are guided to “call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord”; the use of the word “him” taken to mean all gender.

Following this divine pronouncement is a means wherein sickness will flee and deliverance pronounced upon the ailing person. The repercussion of following this direction is that “the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up”. A holistic healing will take place where the person will be healed and delivered of sickness and any present sins. Much like Jesus did when He granted healing and the guarantee of being made whole to some individuals in His ministry.

Now we see the breakdown of the instructions we ought to be ready to utilize it to the fullest and implement it our daily lives. As for me, I like to live by the injunction, if it’s in the Word of God, then it must be good for me: no debate.  Makes living so much easier.

Trivia: Although he had a great and major destiny to fulfill, the Lord would have killed him because he didn’t follow a covenant agreement, who is this?
