Our red seas tend to make us want to do crazy stuff..

Crossing the red sea

Psalms 106:8, 9 (KJV)

“Nevertheless he saved them for his name’s sake, that he might make his mighty power to be known. He rebuked the Red sea also, and it was dried up: so he led them through the depths, as through the wilderness”.

We are all lost at one point or another in our lives; we seem to meander through a maze of purposeless. No discernible direction on where we are going and even if we have dreams or aspiration they seem to disappear in a box floating in the air with no wherewithal to connect them to ourselves.

I know I’m not the only person on God’s earth that has gone through those perplexing moments which can last longer than a tricky sneeze. But I was reflecting on this earlier and I seem to recall the “red sea” and the Israelites journey which was more than momentous in that period and perpetually marked into our history as believers of Christ.

It dawned on my (again) that God doesn’t make any mistakes in what He does and my existence, my life, my being where I am today is not a trick, gotcha or sic moment. There is a purpose to my creation and it is all entwined into God’s plan for His glory. I live and I breathe and I am something because God wants it that way.

In a couple of years from today (oh yes, I am speaking things that are not as though they be), you just might be so hooked on me because of my popularity; you have to stay up nights to hear a word from me. But when that time comes, the ultimate goal is seeing Jesus behind everything a person accomplishes and letting Him be the focal point of what is done.

Writing all this to say: you might not like where you are right now in life: but know that it is God’s will. You might be undergoing some extreme, extreme, difficult pressures in life that is making you rethink this living business: believe and know that God has a plan, don’t give up just as yet; hold off on jumping from that bridge; from climbing to the top of your 15 story building with contemplations; walk away from that person selling illegal weapons on the corner: don’t do it.

Beloved, what I am trying to tell you is: you are so much stronger than who you think you are, what they say you are and what the devil is whispering in your ears. As a matter of fact I guarantee that this time next year, your story will be different and what is holding you hostage today will be things of amazement and pity in your eyes come next year.

My dear, I know you can ride out the storm, for if the scripture says, “He rebuked the Red sea also, and it was dried up”, why do you think your red sea is more difficult than those above? You might not believe me, but know that you are not alone. If I went through a storm and saw Jesus quiet it down, I believe you can too.

Trivia: He told a king NO and it cost him his life; who is this person?
