Psalm 51:5(KJV)“Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me”.
We all have this dark blanket of sin covering us when we enter into this world; we do the things that are contrary to God and enjoy sin just for the season we as much as we can without the direct covering of God on our lives.
But when we become knowledgeable of whom we are in Christ Jesus, things take a turn for the better; events and stuff we used to worry about seem of little consequence and we gradually are taught by the Holy Spirit, who have been deposited within us on the eventful day we accepted the transition from bad to good.
The Psalmist gives us a look at how carnal we can be and points to the origin of such behavior; King David was at a low point in his life wherein the sin he perpetuated caused God to grieve. Why did God grieve you might be asking; there was nothing impossible or too hard that He would have withheld from this His servant. He LOVED David, He approved David, He ordained and sanctioned David unto a perpetual kingship, yet David betrayed the gift bestowed upon Him in a moment of weakness.
Let’s look at our life today and evaluate all the good points, things we are doing which are right, pleasing and acceptable. And at the same time, dig a little deeper (because we tend to fool ourselves and think we are above reproach at times) and identify the smidgen of dross which might be attempting to coat the covering of our glory, our respectability, our right relationship with our fellowmen and most importantly, with God.
On a cautionary note, some might look and see nothing wrong, but I beg to differ and say, “If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us” (1 John 1:8 KJV). So ask yourselves today, “What’s wrong with me”? Then make plans to correct it expeditiously.
