Psalm 37:1,2 “Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity. For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb”.
I don’t make it a habit to wish bad for anyone and Jesus tells us like it is when he advises us to pray for those who spitefully uses us. I’ve heard people say that you have gone to a different level of maturity when the things that people do are unable to hurt you and you don’t take it personal.
I have to admit I have frown on my face at this moment as I try to conceptualize that position. If you get stabbed, don’t you bleed? If you poke yourself in the eye, chances are you might lose your eye; so how is it possible to not take it personal when someone attacks you to the point that the very insides of your stomach becomes wrapped in knots every time you see that person?
Jesus knew beforehand that Judas would betray Him, yet it didn’t make it more palatable at the garden of Gethsemane when He had to face him and this dude walks up to Him and kisses Him on His cheek. He knew beforehand that Peter would deny Him and even went as far as to tell Peter when and how it was going to happen, but when it started going down after His arrest, Peter burst into some choice expletives to crown off the offense. Jesus didn’t hurt any less at these betrayals.
But one thing I can understand is if people recommend that time will heal the wound: this I can attest to and pass on as sound doctrine, because I have been there and have felt the healing of time.
One thing that is clear in all the betrayals and pressure of people who do evil stuff, all along thinking that this type of behavior is exemplary and won’t come back to bite, is that I see the workers of evil, I admire their gall and innovative methods of cruelty. You have to admire it, or else you get caught up with planning countermeasures, and this takes a lot of your time. But I stand strong on the word of God, knowing that good will trump evil any day and when the pain fades away, it is a good time to start praying for the good of these folks.
Nice prayers, good prayers, exalting prayers. I believe in keeping your temple clean, so beloved, get over the hurt quickly and hit knee city with some joy. Laugh up a storm with your God and get some gold demerits for your crown when you hit that place up yonder.
Trivia: This dude is a riot; he told God, “you tricked me: you are only winning this fight because you are bigger than I am”.
